All reasonable steps are taken to maintain the hospital's compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and recommendations of authorized credentialing, planning, regulatory, and inspecting agencies.
University Medical Center is approved by The Joint Commission and is licensed by the State of Nevada to operate as an acute care hospital.
The Level I Trauma Center is verified by the American College of Surgeons and is designated by the Nevada Bureau of Licensure and Certification. The level II Pediatric Trauma Center is verified by the American College of Surgeons and is designated by the Nevada Bureau of Licensure and Certification.
The Level III Neonatal Nursery is designated by the Nevada Bureau of Licensure and Certification.
The Organ Transplant Program is approved by Center for Medicare Services (CMS), the sub-committee of the Membership and Professional Standards Committee (MPSC), United Network of Organ Sharing (UNOS) and Nevada Bureau of Licensure and Certification.
Other licensed areas include: Open Heart Surgery and Burn Care Center, licensed with the State of Nevada Bureau of Licensure and Certification; Pathology certification by the College of American Pathologists (CAP); Pharmacy licensed by the Nevada State Board of Pharmacy; and Radiology licensure by the State of Nevada Division of Health for Radioactive Materials; Oncology certification by the American College of Surgeons as a Comprehensive Cancer Center, and a designated 2nd opinion site.
