Both primary care and pediatric specialty care services are provided at the
Pediatric Outpatient Clinic. It is staffed by highly trained professionals, board certified Pediatricians and sub-specialists, Pediatric Residents, Pediatric Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurses and Licensed Practical Nurses. The clinics that are scheduled in the
Pediatric Outpatient Clinic or on the UMC campus include:

- Plastic Surgery
- Diabetes and Endocrine
- Cystic Fibrosis
Services for additional specialty pediatric healthcare needs are provided within the main hospital or referred to private practitioners within the community or State funded programs.
Pediatric Clinic for Diabetes and Endocrinology
This specialty clinic is located in the Pediatric Outpatient Clinic and manages patients up through age 17 for diabetic and endocrine disorders. The clinic is staffed by a Pediatric Endocrinologist, Nurse Practitioners, Educator, and Dietician and provides a comprehensive teaching program for children and their families.

Joanna Gorman, MPA, RD, CDE is a registered dietitian and certified diabetes
educator with over 20 years experience in providing nutrition education. She is
a former President of the Nevada Educational Association for Diabetes and
specializes in weight management. Her goal is to help patients learn nutrition
information and make healthy choices. Her individualized counseling is focused
on each patient’s lifestyle so they can make decisions that work for them. She
promotes the term “healthy choices” because “diets” end and healthy eating
habits are life long.
